Time. Time moves too
fast. It moves with or without us. We often find ourselves out of time and yet
we stand around killing time. We never seem to have enough time and always want
more but the more time we spend trying to get more time we feel like we wasted
or lost time. Time is what we desperately try to manage, day in day out, yet we
have no control over time what so ever.
Time management is
really what we are trying to do.
Make
the most of the short amount of time we have.
Some of us make time management look easy, but truth be told we all
struggle with how best to use our time.
There are millions of books on the market to prove that we are obsessed
with time and the management of time.
God as the creator
of the universe and everything in it is not limited by time. We are. We wake up, often not as early as we
should have, and we race against the
clock to push back time. We drug
ourselves with caffeine, sugar and other stimulants so we can work faster,
hoping this will get us one more hour in our busy day but it will not.
If we want more
time the secret is to stop doing and just be present for a min. We need to stop doing busy stuff and just
rest in the arms of our lord. God tells
us in Matthew 11:28 (ESV) "Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden,
and I will give you rest." God will give us rest but we must first stop
what we are doing and go to Him. We must
spend time with Him to recharge and reignite our own inner flame. When we stop and put life on pause for just a
brief few minutes, God will show up and help us manage our time.
Today I am running
at 100 mph trying to reply to emails, get the oil changed in my truck for an
upcoming trip, be a brother to my siblings, a good son to my parents, juggle a
wife, three kids, and full time career as well as some extra things in my life
and I feel like I am suffocating. When my 18yearold son comes to me and reminds
me of this by saying, "Dad take a deep breath, focus on God for the next 7
minutes, he has you and then you can go back to work."
Take a deep breath, God has this under control, you just need to spend time with Him.
